Bundesentwicklungsminister Gerd Mueller, CSU besucht Eritrea

Welcome on the website of the German Embassy in Asmara!

In Germany, the "Land of Ideas", we place major emphasis on education, science, research and development. This makes Germany one of the most popular countries in which to study, as well as a site for state-of-the art research and patent development. With its high quality of life, good infrastructure and central location in Europe, Germany is one of the world's most attractive bases for business. Its beautiful urban and rural landscapes, combining age-old traditions and experimental modern culture, make a trip to Germany a unique experience.
Germany has something for everyone, so why not pay us a visit?

German Development Media Awards presented

At a presentation in Berlin, seven journalists have been honoured with the German Development Media Award for their excellent work in the field of human rights and development. This prize is awarded jointly by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Deutsche Welle (DW). The German Development Media Awards honor journalists who retain their independence, take on topics related to human rights and expose problems that usually are hardly covered or not covered at all by the media. They recognize courage and dedication and honor the people who advocate respecting and protecting human rights and who remind us that access to education and equal opportunities are universal rights.
